SWAYAM PRABHA is a thoughtfully established initiative comprising 32 DTH channels dedicated to broadcasting high-quality educational programs around the clock via the GSAT-15 satellite. Each day, fresh content is made available for at least four hours, with five subsequent repeat broadcasts throughout the day. This format enables students to select viewing times that align with their personal schedules. The channels are uplinked from BISAG in Gandhinagar, with content sourced from reputable organizations such as NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT, and NIOS. The management of the accompanying web portal is handled by the INFLIBNET Centre.

The DTH channels encompass the following key areas:

• Higher Education: The channels provide curriculum-based course content tailored for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, spanning a range of disciplines including arts, science, commerce, performing arts, social sciences, humanities, engineering, technology, law, medicine, and agriculture. Each course is designed to be certification-ready through SWAYAM, a platform that aims to facilitate MOOCs.
• School Education (Grades 9-12): The programming includes modules aimed at teacher training as well as educational resources that enhance children's understanding of core subjects. Additionally, these resources assist students in their preparation for competitive examinations required for admission into professional degree programs.
• Life-long Learning: The channels cater to the needs of life-long learners among Indian citizens both domestically and abroad by providing curriculum-based courses suitable for ongoing education.
• Competitive Exam Preparation: Specialized content is available to support students in grades 11 and 12 as they prepare for various competitive examinations.
